Mike McClelland is fresh off an Elite Series win a few weeks ago. He also posted a fourth-place finish at the 2009 Bassmaster Classic on the Red River.
Practice was good this week for the Arkansan. A few days ago, the keepers were plentiful along this shoreline made of clay where we are now. But McClelland’s livewell is empty. He says it’s too early to say why.
Meanwhile, the photo boat has remained near the take-off/weigh-in site at Red River South Marina. That’s because of the number of boats. There’s a large group in a lily pad field. The usual community holes are packed. We haven’t seen many fish come aboard anywhere around.
The sun hasn’t appeared. It’s shrouded by low clouds and an ever present breeze. And of course, it’s already rained.
