It's no secret that buzzbaits are a popular choice on Lake Norman, especially early. Jamey Caldwell didn't get an early boat number today, but he still managed to buzz up a spotted bass in the 3-pound range.
"It's got a crawfish sticking out of the back of its throat," said Caldwell, as he held up the fish.
Caldwell starts the day in 17th place after catching 11-1 yesterday. He knows the lake well. He plans to move up past the Highway 150 bridge later in the day.
"That's where I usually fish when I come here," Caldwell said. "I need at least 13 pounds to make the (top 12) cut, and I'd really like to make that cut."
