When Day 1 leader Tyler Rivet arrived at his first spot this morning, right around the corner from takeoff, he was the sixth boat to pull up to the area.
Yesterday, he was the only boat in the area most of the day, and he took advantage by catching most of his 20-12 bag there.
“That’s the Opens for you,” he said.
Rivet’s co-angler had a productive start to the day, catching a 3-pounder in the first hour of fishing.
Just after 9, Rivet landed his first keeper, a bass that appeared to be around 2 pounds. He caught that fish after he popped his bait free of some brush. That isn’t the first time that happened this week. A 4-pounder did the same thing yesterday.
Rivet is seeing a bunch of bass on his LiveScope, but they will not commit to his bait.
His current location is Rivet’s primary area but he does have some areas up the lake as a backup options.
