After a couple quick stops, Ben Milliken has filled his limit. When he filled his limit, he said he had over 22 pounds in the livewell.
He then proceeded to upgrade twice with two really nice bass in the span of 20 minutes.
The first one he landed wasn’t even the bass he was fishing for. The one he casted to initially was a 9-pounder. To coax it into biting, Milliken had to let slack into his line to keep the bait in front of the fish before twitching and getting it to eat.
His second cull came several casts later He then scanned the area and left to go hunt for a 10-pounder.
Several different baits have played a factor in his day so far. He’s tried at least 10 different rods, if not more.
Milliken said these bass are mostly cruising around eating gizzard shad on the clay bottoms. The ones he has caught at every stop have not been the biggest bass in the area.
The scary part for the rest of the field is Milliken has plenty of time to continue to make upgrades.
