What a great two weeks B.A.S.S. had in New York. The competition was intense, the fish catching was great and the hours of Bassmaster LIVE on ESPN2 were awesome.
First, on behalf of B.A.S.S., let me say thanks to The State of New York and Governor Andrew Cuomo for allowing the Bassmaster Elite Series events to proceed under the COVID-19 Professional Sports Guidelines.
Things were different for sure with no fans or Elite Marshals, but all in all these were two great events. We appreciate the support of both our Clayton and Plattsburgh, N.Y., hosts. They had to make adjustments as well, but things went off without a hitch.
Speaking of COVID, thanks to the anglers, staff and support personnel for taking care of yourselves prior to the New York visit. Without going into all of the details, everyone went through COVID testing and daily screenings to maintain health and safety for all. As we told everyone, now is not the time to let down your guard. And let’s all stay safe and healthy for remainder of the season.
This year certainly will be a year to remember. B.A.S.S. is excited to get a full season under our belts even though the tournaments will go into the fall. Personally, I like the revised schedule and am glad to see some fall Elite events. It brings me back to the 90s when fall was actually the beginning of tournament season.
Congratulations to Chris Johnston and Brandon Palaniuk on their big victories. As I write this, Tropical Storm Isaias is plowing through the area. I’m so glad we got our events in, and I hope all our New York friends are safe.
Good fishing.
