NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. — Bassmaster Elite Series pro Bradley Roy is once again giving young Kentucky anglers a chance to fish competitively for their high schools.
The 2nd Annual Bradley Roy Kentucky High School Open will be held Sept. 27 at Herrington Lake. The registration meeting and dinner are set for Sept. 26 at Angler’s Outpost and Marine.
The tournament is open to all Kentucky high school anglers and is sanctioned by the B.A.S.S. Nation and Bassmaster High School program. The entry fee for the event will be $25 per boat.
Last year’s event was held at 784-acre Cedar Creek Lake and drew 21 teams consisting of 42 high school anglers from Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee. (See photos of the 2013 event here.) This year’s event is limited to Kentucky teams only. The tournament was moved to the larger Herrington Lake (2,335 acres) this year to give the anglers a chance to compete on a bigger fishery, according to J.D. Blackburn, public relations coordinator for the event.
The open is also a qualifier for the 2015 Bassmaster High School Championship. The two highest finishing Kentucky high school teams will earn entries into the national championship.
