DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — Jake Mims of Alexander High School has accepted a fishing scholarship to Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn.
“Jake will bring a lot of experience to the team,” said Mike Keen, Bryan’s fishing coach. “He has a very impressive fishing resume.”
Mims, who was selected as a member of the 2015 Bassmaster High School All-State team, is the first high school junior Keen has ever signed.
“I had an opportunity to visit many school teams,” said Mims, “but Lake Chickamauga sitting right next to the campus sealed the deal.”
The Alexander High School fishing team has won several tournaments on the Georgia B.A.S.S. Nation High School trail, including one state championship. Alexander just started its fishing team three years ago.
Bryan College is currently ranked sixth in college fishing. Its home lake, Chickamauga, is considered one of the hottest lakes in the country for bass fishing.
