“You want a pattern that will work in July? From Florida to New York?” asked Bobby Lane. “OK, but this is no joke. I’ve used this to win money this year.”
With 36 Top 10 finishes under his belt, Lane is no slouch. In the past five seasons alone, Lane has notched Top 10 finishes from South Carolina to California, and from Florida to Wisconsin. And just this May, Lane followed this very same pattern to a check at an Eastern Open on Lake Norman.
Lane knows that fishing can be a slog in the summer, when temperatures threaten to break thermostat records and anglers’ spirits. But, the Florida native has developed a tournament-tested technique for beating the heat. Armed with an arsenal of crankbaits, a Phoenix 920, a Yamaha SHO 250 and a Raymarine Axiom, he scours summer waters for big bass on offshore brushpiles, running and gunning until he finds the perfect pattern.
