What is it?
Picasso’s Shad Walker.
What does it do?
Before you say it looks like something your child plays with while in the tub, think about this: Which do you see flipping along the surface more often; frogs or baitfish? This baitfish imitator makes sense.
Why do I need it?
To accurately mimic the bass chow that actually skitters, pops and hops across the surface.
How do I use it?
You can work it like a topwater frog with a walking motion, or you can “hump” it (make the front end bob up and down while retrieving the bait in a straight line) like Dave Wolak does with hollow topwater baits.
What sets it apart?
Well, for one thing it looks like a shad. Second, it sits higher in the water that most frogs so it doesn’t lose its action in rough water or bog down. Picasso also claims that the Shad Walker skips easier than a frog because there are no legs to bog down during a skip. Currently, 7 colors are available.
How much?
This topwater will set you back $10.49.
