WHAT IS IT?
H2O Xpress Tac 40 Casting Rod
WHAT SETS IT APART?
A focus on creating a lightweight rod that doesn’t sacrifice strength yielded the H2O Xpress Tac 40. The multi-modulus graphite blanks, from which these one-piece rods are constructed, maximize sensitivity and minimize fatigue. Helical core construction, which means the grain of the graphite sheets are overlaid in multiple directions, increases blank power and reduces torque. A split-grip EVA handle helps keep this rod light, while adding a proven comfort element.
HOW DO I USE IT?
Semi-micro Kigan SiC line guides with ceramic rings ensure smooth delivery by reducing heat and friction for longer casts. Furthermore, these guides stand up to braids and superlines. Tac 40 Casting Rods are available in 6-6, 6-9, 7-0 and 7-3 lengths with medium and medium-heavy powers. Handle lengths are 9.75-, 10- and 11-inch, depending on model. The 6-6 rod has nine guides plus the tip, while the 6-9, 7 and 7-3 models have 10 plus the tip.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:
Looks like Academy has packed a lot of angler-friendly features into the H2O XPress Tac-40 lineup. For one thing, they didn’t skimp on guides, and the choice of semi-micro silicone carbide components promotes a low-profile and long-cast performance. The rubber painted Fuji ACS reel seat provides a comfortable feel with its contoured form, while the exposed blank maximizes sensitivity and allows the angler to detect the slightest vibration.
