Gear Review: Bass Mafia The Bud Bag

What is it?

The Bud Bag by Bass Mafia

What sets it apart?

Bass Mafia has long been known for innovative tackle storage solutions. The brand-new Bud Bag addresses the issue that anglers always had with storing buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. Although Bass Mafia is calling this a spinnerbait/buzzbait storage system, it could be used to store a wide variety of lures. The Bud Bag comes with five binders with five compartments per binder for a total of 25 total compartments. The material used on the binders is the same durable material that is used to build the popular Money Bag. Between the heavy-duty zipper and a treated fabric that makes up the outer shell, lures are safe from water and potential rusting. The Bud Bag also has a little brother called the 2 Bud. The 2 Bud is the same design but a smaller profile with five binders and two compartments per binder for 10 total compartments.

How do I use it?

There’s no shortage of options when determining what to use the Bud Bag for. Just about any single hooked bait will fit perfectly in the Bud Bag — few examples: spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, jigs and vibrating jigs. My original thought was that the Bud Bag will be much easier to store in a boat and will take up less room, but then I got to thinking about how ideal the design would be for kayak anglers or bank fisherman as well. Both sizes of the bag would fit nicely into a crate or even a backpack.

Angler’s insight:

One of the most frustrating things as an angler is finding rust on any favorite lures. Anyone can always replace hooks on a treblehook bait, but if you find rust on a spinnerbait, buzzbait or jig it’s as good as done. The Bud Bag will help eliminate that problem. As an angler who buys a lot of tackle — and I mean a lot — I’m always trying to figure out the most efficient way to store tackle in my boat and still carry as much equipment as I can. The Bud Bag is a step in the right direction for being efficient while still protecting equipment.
