Gear review: Chaco Sandals

Meet the perfect sandal that was made for adventure.

What is it?

Chaco makes sandals that are designed for adventure. In 1989, the idea of Chaco was conceived by a Colorado rafting guide. He had a need for outdoor adventure footwear that could be worn on land or in water, so this durable and versatile sandal was developed. They are now available in many styles, so you can customize your shoe to your adventure.

What sets it apart?

Chaco still stands by its original mission and has consistently produced rugged, durable and comfortable sandals that can be worn in and out of the water. They are made from a durable rubber sole with adjustable pull-through straps so they can be customized to every foot. They are built to last and come with a repair program if they need a little love. As a company, Chaco wants to see people enjoy the outdoors. They also encourage people to enjoy the outdoors responsibly by setting an example through their sustainable missions, use of recycled materials and repair programs.

How do I use it?

There are many styles to choose from, depending on your needs. Select your desired style and consult the size chart before ordering. When they arrive, you can adjust the straps to make them fit each foot perfectly. Then enjoy the great outdoors, whether you are on land or in water, in your new, durable yet comfy sandal.

How much?

$40 – $120 (Prices vary based on shoe style.)

Joanna’s insight:

I own the Women’s Z sandals and Women’s Chaco slides, and they are some of my most-worn shoes in the summer months. The Z style is my go-to dog walking shoe; I wear them for park walks as well as mellow hikes. I carry them for water crossings when I go backpacking, and I also wear them for paddle boarding. The fully adjustable straps are my favorite feature because they always fit perfectly! They are great, versatile sandals that are a great fit for mountain living or beach living. The Chaco slides are more of a relaxation shoe. I never go camping without them; they are perfect for sitting by the fire or lying in the hammock. They are easy to slip on and off and comfortable to walk short distances around camp in.
