While the weights were by no meants the highest of the season, the Sabine River once again provided an excellent venue to test the Elite Series pros. After five second-place finishes, Brock Mosley finally got his blue trophy at a body of water that he has come close to winning at in the past.
Per usual, there were plenty of surprises in Rapala Bassmaster Fantasy Fishing. Some of the pre-tournament favorites didn’t have the great events, while a couple of anglers made their first Elite Series Top 10.

Kyle Welcher continued his incredible season by notching a Top 10 at the Sabine River and even took over the lead in Progressive Bassmaster Angler of the Year points. The Alabama pro scored 272 points for the 8.0% of players that selected him.
Second best selection: Overall, Bucket A didn’t perform up to par, but Drew Benton was the second-best choice. Benton scored 251 points while being selected by 1.7% of players.
Lowest scoring angler: Matt Arey had the worst finish of his Elite Series career at the Sabine River. The North Carolina pro scored just 71 points for the 1.4% of players who selected him.
BUCKET B: ROBERTSON
Matt Robertson notched his second Top 10 of the season at the Sabine River. Robertson was the fifth highest selected angler at 3.2% and scored 280 points.
Second best selection: Finishing sixth, Hunter Shryock was the second highest scoring angler in Bucket B. The Tennessee pro scored 276 points and was selected by 0.9% of players.
Lowest scoring angler: Coming off of a Top 10 finish at Lay Lake, Justin Hamner struggled at the Sabine River. The Alabama pro scored 95 points for the 0.2% of players who selected him.
BUCKET C: MOSLEY
Playing the high percentage paid off in Bucket C, as Brock Mosley captured his first Elite Series win at the Sabine River. Mosley was the highest selected angler in the Bucket at 27.3% and scored 315 points.
Second best selection: Clark Wendlandt made a charge up the leaderboard on the final day, but eventually fell just short with a second-place finish. The Texas pro scored 295 points while being selected by 4.4% of players.
Lowest scoring angler: Gary Clouse wasn’t able to get a solid pattern established at the Sabine River. Clouse scored just 77 points and was selected by 0.1% of players.
BUCKET D: PIPKENS
Chad Pipkens finally had a good event at the Sabine River with a Top 10 finish. The Michigan pro scored a whopping 345 points while being selected by just 0.5% of players.
Second best selection: Matt Herren continued his history of success at the Sabine River with a 14th place finish. The Elite Series veteran scored 248 points and was selected by 7.4% of players.
Lowest scoring angler: Josh Stracner was the lowest scoring angler in Bucket D.
BUCKET E: WONG
Matty Wong captured his first Elite Series Top 10 at the Sabine River with a third-place finish. The second-year Elite scored 290 points while being selected by 0.7% of players.
Second best selection: Bucket E was home to three anglers inside the Top 10, but Keith Poche was the second highest scoring angler. Poche scored 285 points and was selected by 27.3% of players.
Lowest scoring angler: John Soukup never got it going at the Sabine River. The Elite rookie scored 69 points for the 1.1% of players that selected him.
