Since its inception in 2008, Bassmaster Fantasy Fishing has led the way in a digital competitive environment where true bass fishing fans can pit their knowledge against other fanatics. Those who know, know — this game isn’t about chance or luck, it’s about picking the right angler at the right event based on history, research and knowing who will perform best on a particular body of water during specific periods in the calendar.
New for 2020, thanks to the fine folks at Rapala — and rabid Fantasy Fishing players — the prizing has been greatly expanded offering many more opportunities to win. Instead of paying out only a grand prize at the end of the season and to the top finishers at each event, Fantasy Fishing competitors will earn payouts at each event to 20th place, and through fifth place in the season points race.
There is also a new feature in 2020 offering 40 additional bonus points for players who correctly guess the tournament’s winning weight during the entry process prior to the lock time. It is optional, but what do you have to lose?
Guessing the winning weight will also serve as the first tiebreaker. For more information, read through the rules.
There are 10 regular-season events from which Fantasy Fishing will be conducted. There is no Angler of the Year championship scheduled for 2020, so the season will once again end on Lake St. Clair in August.
New prizes
Each individual Fantasy Fishing tournament winner will receive a package to include a $2,500 Bass Pro Shops gift card, $1,000 in cash and a $500 Rapala prize package including a pile of cool Rapala products like a Touch Screen Scale with culling kit, Rapala Performance Tool Combo, Rapala ruler, decals, hat and a bunch of baits and line.
If the winner is a B.A.S.S. member as of the tournament lock time, he or she will receive an additional $500 Bass Pro Shops gift card. That means B.A.S.S. members can win up to $4,500 in cash and prizes per event.
But it doesn’t stop there.
Second place through fifth place at each tournament will win a $250 package complete with a Rapala Touch Screen Scale with culling kit, tool kit, Rapala ruler, decals, trucker cap and a handful of lures.
Places sixth through 10th will receive a $100 Rapala prize package. Then places 11th through 20th will received a $50 Rapala prize package.
Then to make it even more awesome, the season-ending points race prizing has been bolstered as well.
Places second through fourth in the season points race will received prizes worth more than $1,100 to include an autographed, co-branded Rapala/Bassmaster 3-foot giant lure, a $1,000 Bass Pro Shops gift card and a Rapala gear prize package.
The grand prize winner who accumulates the most points after all 10 tournaments will receive more than $20,000 in cash and prizes, which includes: One $15,000 Bass Pro Shops gift card, $5,000 in cash, an autographed B.A.S.S. and Rapala branded giant lure and a Rapala prize package. Plus, if the winner is a B.A.S.S. member an additional $500 Bass Pro Shops gift card will be added to the package.
Add it all up and Rapala Bassmaster Fantasy Fishing players can win a portion of more than $90,000 in cash and prizes across the 2020 season.
How awesome is that?
