Starting in April and running through October, the Coastal Coservation Association (CCA) Maryland and Yamaha Rightwaters began year two of The Great Chesapeake Invasives Count. This information-gathering program lets angers observe as “citizen scientists” while they fish.
Using a phone app, anglers can report when they land Northern snakhead, blue catfish and flathead catfish. These are all non-native species. The fishery managers want to keep an eye on these fish to head off any damage to the native species in the waters of the Chesapeake area.
