Open letter to: Louisiana flood victims

The road is long…”

Dateline: Cajun Caring

Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.”
~Mother Teresa

Deep inside all of us, where lies the demons and the saints, deep within I think we all know, it is simply, up to us.

To care for one another.

No politicians or priests.

No thumping or talking.

No forms or filing.

Just, the Kind, in Man.

Just regular working stiffs and their helping hands.

We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.”
Winston Churchill

I believe that we who make our way through life based on your support have an absolute moral obligation TO SUPPORT YOU BACK.

Kick to the side of the road those amongst us who do not reach back, do not lend a hand, do not have your back.

You build our stage, you light our lights and without you our platform would go dark.

To those of you in Louisiana, know this, three sons of the bayou know of your floods, know of your plight, know deeply of your need.

Elite Angler, Cliff Crochet.

Elite Angler, Dennis Tietje

Elite Angler, Greg Hackney (grew up in Ark., now lives in La.)

These Delta boys, have your back, and they and others, are going to help.

“…his welfare is of my concern…”

Crochet: “The flooding in Louisiana is catastrophic in the fullest sense of the word.”

Tietje: “The waters are not leaving fast, it’s horrible.”

Hackney: “It is our responsibility to help out, that’s what makes America great, no matter what part of the country people band together to help one another.”

It is my belief that future generations will judge us not solely on what we did, but also on what we didn’t do.

Dear Future: A small imprecise regular guy non-scientific research project thing…during the week of March 13-19, 2016 according to Google in 0.24 seconds a search that this knucklehead guy (me) did of “News” gave these figures:

Donald Trump’s HAIR: 22,300 results.

Louisiana Floods; 21,900 results.

Only one man is suffering from Mr. Trump’s hair.

Thousands of men, women and children are suffering from the Louisiana flood.

We will deserve how we will be judged.

“…no burden is he to bear…”

If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.
~Mother Teresa

Do you really believe St. Peter is going to ask you what kind of car you drove, the square footage of your house, or where you got those Gucci slippers.

What you took won’t open the gates.

What you gave, will.

(Forward this to the Kardashians.)

The poorest amongst us who lets another sip from their only cup of water goes through Heaven’s E-ZPass gate.

It is never about I, or me, it is always about us, or them. And with that thought in mind and with the help of the Bassmaster Elites Cajun Crew I’m going to do this, and I invite you to do this as well:

I’m going to donate $1 a pound for the total weight that Crochet, Tietje and Hackney bring to the scales during the Bassmaster Toledo Bend Elite Event.

Those three anglers are going to do the same as well.

Join us in our regular working stiff way of helping out the folks of the flood.

“…we’ll get there for I know…”

Here’s the plan, hand those who need help…CASH.

No government involvement.

No non-profits with expensive presidents and private jets.

No forms to fill out, just regular arse folks reaching in their pockets and handing money to folks who need money to start life over.

If your house has water up to its roof I don’t need to see a form to know you need help.

This is a “no-frills,” “no-BS,” way to help people just like you and me, it’s not rocket science to see who needs help.

We have already set in motion people in the devastated out looking for those in need, once we know more details I will follow up with all the “hows.”

But help us, help me in a grassroots way, help as many people as we can in the most direct way possible, join in with a penny a pound, a nickel a pound, whatever you can a pound.

“…he would not encumber me…”

An Open Letter to The Elites:

We all know that the man with all the answers to all our questions hung out with fishermen.

Your heritage my friends is of seafood and bread.

I believe in my soul that it is the family of anglers of whom he trusts, of whom he expects certain things, of whom he is the brother to.

When the rivers we fish come for those on shore, he expects more from us, his faith, his trust always comes back to the men who ply the waters.

The stage you cross weekly is just a pre-cursor to the final, bigger stage waiting for you and the question asked of you will not be one of what you caught, but what you handed back. It’s the ultimate catch and release.

I hope, and pray my way, that at Toledo Bend 107 other fishermen use their catch, once again, to help the crowd, and pledge per pound.

Help, the old school way.

The Kind, in Man way.

“…he ain’t heavy, he’s my brother.”
