University of Montevallo angler Easton Fothergill, winner of the 2023 Bassmaster Team of the Year title with teammate Nick Dumke, is in recovery after undergoing emergency surgery to remove a brain abscess.
According to a Facebook post from Easton’s mother Jennifer Eischens-Fothergill, Easton began suffering headaches about a week ago. When they worsened on Saturday, Easton went to the ER and doctors discovered a mass on his brain that was revealed to be an abscess with an MRI.
Eischens-Fothergill said in her post that Easton is currently recovering and will eventually be moving from Birmingham to his home state of Minnesota to continue his recovery. That recovery will involve IV antibiotics as well as brain scans and lab work.
Via the Team of the Year title, Fothergill qualified for the College Classic Bracket presented by Lew’s at Milford Lake starting at the end of next month.
His status for that event is unknown at this time.
