It's been crazy around the Iaconelli household the last few weeks. After practicing on Lay Lake, and in between enjoying the holidays with Becky, I've been busy with The Bass University and my TV show,City Limits.

The best thing about bass fishing in January, especially in the Deep South, is that you know exactly where they'll be holding — under vegetation mats.
In my last blog we talked about how I prepare for an event like the Bassmaster Classic using my eyes and my electronics. This week we'll take a look at how I map the details of what I found using lures.
I've been as busy as can be the last couple of weeks. We held our first Bass University class in Philadelphia. It sold out. It was gratifying to see so many anglers wanting to improve their skills.
I'm at Lay Lake trying to get ready for next year's Bassmaster Classic. Obviously, the fish will be responding differently in February, but I want to learn as much about the lake as I possibly can before it goes off-limits.

As many of you know I cut my beard for my wedding to Becky. (Actually she cut it for me, but who wants to get technical?) Now we're going to auction it for charity. The bidding will be on eBay, and should start shortly.
Back when we were all kids, our mothers and fathers used to tell us to get an education because, "They can't take it away from you, no matter what." I'm telling you the same thing today. Of course, your parents were talking about your lessons at school. I'm talking about learning how to catch fish.
In this photo gallery you will see images of the 2009 weekend series championship on Lake Dardenelle in Arkansas day four.
Longtime friends Darrell West and Elite Series pro Billy McCaghren fished their first Bassmaster Open together, and in 2010, they will both fish their first Bassmaster Classic together.
