JUNCTION CITY, Kan. — Lowrance Electronics, longtime sponsor of BASS and the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation, awarded $16,800 in merchandise certificates and $12,500 in cash to participating state chapters during the presidents' meetings at the recent B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Championship.
Cheryl Spencer and Doug O'Hara presented the 2008 Excellence in Sponsor Marketing awards to state chapters for promoting the Lowrance brand at tournaments, youth and conservation events, in publications and online.
Alabama won the overall prize. The Alabama Federation Nation received a check for $5,000 plus a $1,200 merchandise certificate. Eddie Plemons, Alabama's president, accepted the award on behalf of his state.
Five states — Virginia, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire and Oregon — were judged tops in their divisions and received $1,500 cash plus $1,200 merchandise certificates.
Eight states — Arizona, Connecticut, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee and Washington — fulfilled the basic requirements and won $1,200 merchandise certificates.
Spencer and O'Hara told Federation Nation presidents in attendance that Lowrance would step up once again in 2009 with the sponsorship program that rewards states for promoting the brand and makes discount pricing available to chapter members and state team qualifiers.
